pnw surf cabin

I like to think our latest project as a blend of Leanne Ford, Kelly Wearstler and Nicole Hollis. My dream team that someone should make a show about so I can see the rooms they make! They all possess an enchanting blend of vision/art yet restraint in their projects. I love the west coast, wabi-sabi, surf, relaxed yet elegant vibe of this new project.

This client wanted a modern monochrome PNW surf shack. We wanted to capture that laid back, free feeling of being in the San Juan Islands and infuse it with rich materiality, monochrome, and items of curiosity.  Her initial boards and muses (below) gain inspiration from modern cottages, nature, japandi, yoga, global surf shacks, pacific rim influences, PNW vibe, minimalism and monochrome….

You always want the relationship between you and the client to be one of alignment. Alignment in aesthetic endpoint, budget and expectations, but also in thought processes about design. You want to align in a meta way, where you align in how you think about design. Alignment allows more creative synergy to occur. This project is close to my heart because its aligned on so many levels…I can’t wait to see it evolve.

We are focusing on a mix of IKEA, Amazon and 1st Dibs. Often the budget is appropriated best by stretching  to extreme hi/low ends. This cool cabin for an even cooler client made me realize why people always talk about living by the sea. Women who live by the sea are definitely onto something. (sponsored)
