investment pieces

Some people covet shoes, handbags or cars. I covet vintage Scandinavian chairs and Italian glass chandeliers. These are the items that capture my full imagination and attention and keep me scrolling late at night. Slow design-buying pieces you truly love over time is the most environmental and pleasurable approach to making your home your sanctuary. I love spaces that embody families, travels, colors, time periods and sense of place. I have many design muses in the form of color combos, places, people,. art movements, songs etc etc… I like homes and rooms where I can thread in a person’s individual muses to create a visual composite. I like homes that visually embody the soul of the person whom lives there.

For practicality my approach to design has always been high/ low. Buy the items that make you light up and then surround them with accessible items to round out the room. Don’t waste your energy or time on half approaches. I say go on all in when necessary (and a vintage chrome chandelier is always necessary) and furnish the rest in repurposed or Target if that’s what the budget allows. Live today and stay in budget. The two partner companies we use the most often are 1st Dibs and Design with Reach. We love how these objects add to rooms history, resonance, materiality and form.
